Tally designed by Michael Anastassiades

The name Tally derives from “Tally Marks” , a counting system that uses 4 vertical lines crossed by a fifth diagonal line.  Similarly, Tally adds predefined groups of lines to create a single arrangement, which can be extended in any direction and configuration

Tally consists of 2 different bricks, one divided in 2, the other in 4.  The outer frame of Tally, is half the thickness of the lines which divide it.   This allows the breeze blocks to be arranged to create a pattern that repeats infinitely with consistent spacing.

The varying density of the lines allow for playful combinations of patterns and textures.  The 3-dimentional nature of Tally causes the transparency to change as the observer moves around the structure.  From a side view, the negative space disappears, and the structure ‘closes’ , preventing light from passing through.

Tally is designed by Michael Anastassiades for Mutina.
